Yogurt and Soft Cheeses
Saturday, May 5th, 3 - 4:30 pm, $25
It's easy to make delicious, nutritious
yogurt, chevre and cream cheese at home! In this class we’ll sample home-made Greek
yogurt, non-fat yogurt and melt-in-your-mouth cream cheese. Participants will learn how to make each of
these at home, as well as chevre, mascarpone and many
other soft cheeses, with inexpensive equipment you may
already have on hand – a thermometer and a thermos.
Feta
Saturday, June 2, 1 - 4 pm, $40
Feta is one of the simplest “hard”
cheeses to make at home, and one of the most delicious! Homemade feta is lighter and fresher tasting
than the feta available in local stores, making it one of the most gratifying
cheeses to make at home. Each
participant will make cow milk feta in the class, and the exact same recipe can
be used for goat or sheep milk feta. You
will get to leave class with about a pound of feta made by you that you can
finish draining and brining at home.
We’ll also have plenty of fresh feta on hand to enjoy during class!
Mozzarella
Saturday, August 4, 3 - 4:30 pm, $25
Saturday, October 6, 3 - 4:30 pm, $25
Impress friends and neighbors by
arriving at your next party with fresh mozzarella – no need to tell them it
only took 30 minutes to make. In this class
you’ll learn what the mozzarella should look like at each step, how to stretch
it properly and a few little tricks for getting your mozzarella to turn out
great every time. Each participant will
make about a half pound of mozzarella to take home (or eat right away).
